Title:

Pharmaceutical and Chemical Diversion

Audience:

Government Officers engaged in the management or regulation of chemicals, law enforcement and intelligence roles seeking professional development in the subject matter areas of pharmaceutical and chemical diversion and the diversion of equipment into illicit drug manufacture.

Duration:

1 Day

Course Description:

This course aims to provide participants with a ground up understanding of the nature and extent of pharmaceutical, chemical and equipment diversion into illicit drug manufacture.

Participant knowledge is developed from a basic to an advanced level by examining illicit drug manufacture activities and the role of, and demand for, pharmaceutical and chemical precursors as well as critical equipment used in specific drug manufacture processes and several methods used by organised crime for diversion of these resources. The course identified vulnerable industries where precursors chemicals are utilised and considers possible strategies for the collection and development of intelligence from these sources.

The course also examines contemporary trends in drug manufacture as well as examining emerging and potential future synthetic drug manufacture in the context of future diversion pressures. It also examines priority precursor chemicals, pharmaceuticals, the collection and use of intelligence to identify potential illicit drug manufacture activities.

Learning Outcomes:

This course is designed to build on participants professional knowledge and provide a development opportunity to build a greater understanding of illicit drug manufacture methods, priority pharmaceuticals, precursor, reagent and catalyst chemicals used in illicit drug manufacture, process related equipment and the development of chemical intelligence.
